Cabinet reshuffle in the offing
Al Watan staff

KUWAIT: Since the government has tendered its resignation, observers believe that there is a likelihood of a new Cabinet lineup which may see the introduction of new ministers and the redeployment of others.
It has been gathered that certain controversial ministers will probably be left out of the new lineup, particularly those whose stay in the government may cause a possible showdown between the government and Parliament.
Noting that the reshuffle may involve 40 percent of ministerial portfolios, the sources intimated that a number of ministers will be relieved of their Cabinet positions, including the ministers of communications, education, finance and oil.
The next government, according to the sources, will be more harmonious so that future interpellations can be prevented.
Speaking on the matter Thursday, MP Khaled AlÜSultan refuted press reports that he had asked His Highness the Amir to reinstate Sheikh Nasser AlÜMohammed as prime minister, stressing that such a decision squarely rests with His Highness the Amir.
The lawmaker made the statement in reaction to reports that he had called for the reinstatement of the incumbent PM during an audience with the Amir, arguing that his replacement will result in a victory for those who had demanded the PM''s questioning.
